my father in law, a marine...was at iwo jima and with the 5th infantry that raised the flag...in fact was with the group that did raise the flag on that mountain...his buddies...he also consulted on the latest movie..flags of our fathers...went to the premier as a result here in LA...as well...he is 82 now and still has a vivid memory of the fight...have him over just about every sunday for dinner...one of the few to be alive today...fwiw

minor correction

No such thing as an "ex-marine" ... Once a marine, ALWAYS a marine!

Thanks guys....ohhhhh rahhhhhhhhhhhh. I served from 91' to 94', was a (2531) radio operator of an Arty unit. Dont want to get into specifics about myself, but the men and women serving currently are very brave. Especially the ones volunteering, knowing full well the situations we are in, in several very dangerous places on this planet...

God Bless and Semper Fi my fellow devil dogs!!

just read "flags of our fathers", if u read it, ur opinion of vets will go up 100 times. the movie didn't do the book justice - there wasn't enof time to get to the essence of the character of the six flagraisers. happy vets day. vietnam vet myself (brown water navy).
